for perfect rice measure the water and rice carefully.
rinse rice only if desired to on the package or in a recipe.
stirring makes rice sticky and starchy.
if rice is still wet after cooking, cook it uncovered over low heat for a few min.
1 cup rice to 2 cups water.

Well, first tip for sticky rice (aka sushi rice) is to not rinse it before cooking, or else it will lose it's stickiness.

For most other rices, you can rinse them before cooking for the light and fluffiness.

Second, it isn't true that it is 1 part rice to 2 parts water - you can generally get by with less water when you have more rice. For more information, check out "Good Eats" on Food Network - he did a whole show on rice.

Third, if you are to leave the lid on for 15 minutes after adding the rice to the water, LEAVE IT ON for 15 minutes. Do not think about even considering the notion of possibly deciding the perhaps remove the cover.

Hope this gives you a good start.

I love to cook my rice with chicken broth instead of water. It's so good and adds so much flavor. You can use all chicken broth, or any combination of water and chicken broth if you only want a little flavor. YUMMM!
